ROCKWALL, Texas — The St. Mary's University Men's Golf team had opportunities against DBU in the Semifinals of medal match play at the Lone Star Conference Championship but eventually dropped a 4-1 decision.
The Rattlers got off to a good start, at one point leading in all five matches, but the Patriots were able to stay the course and take leads in four of the five to advance to the finals for the second straight season, where they will face Midwestern State which defeated top-seeded Oklahoma Christian 5-0.
It is the first time in Lone Star Conference history the Rattlers have qualified for medal match play after finishing second in the stroke play portion of the championship.
Freshman
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) was the lone winner for the Gold and Blue, winning 73 to 78. Paquette recorded five birdies and seven pars over the 18 holes.
