DALLAS — In a pair of rematches from day one of the Lone Star Conference Championship, the No. 11 St. Mary's University STUNT team defeated 10th-ranked Texas Woman's 14-10 in the semifinals before dropping a 20-4 game to #5 DBU in the finals.
This is the second straight season the Rattlers (10-9) have finished as the Lone Star Conference Runners-Up.
St. Mary's has one more tournament left on the regular season schedule, as they head to the Drury Tournament April 5-6. The team will await word on a bid to the STUNT National Championship, which takes place April 23-27 in Nashville, Tenn.
Game One Recap
The Rattlers jumped out to the early lead, scoring a point on all four routines in the first quarter with three outright wins and a tie during the second round on routine two.
The Rattlers extended their lead, outscoring the Pioneers 3-2 in both the second and third quarters. StMU clinched the victory by winning all three points during the second round of team routines, sweeping routine four. Game Two Recap
In a repeat of last season's championship game, the Patriots were able to keep the title, winning 20-4. The score was only one point off the score from Friday, as DBU won the second-round contest 21-4.
StMU broke onto the scoreboard in the second quarter, working a tie in round three of pyramids & tosses routine four and winning number five for the 6-2 halftime tally.
DBU scored all four points in the third quarter and eight of the first nine in the fourth quarter before the Rattlers won the partner stunts portion of routine five and tied on pyramids & tosses for the final tally of 20-4.
