SPRING, Texas — In a tournament already shortened due to forecasted bad weather on Tuesday, the No. 8 St. Mary's University Women's Golf team fought through chilly conditions to place third at the annual Southern Invite hosted by Central Oklahoma.
Sophomore
Savannah Dupre (Boerne, Texas) led the Rattlers, finishing tied for second overall with an even-par 142 (73, 69). Dupre recorded four bogeys, two birdies and 12 pars in the morning, then flipped the script with two bogeys, four birdies and 12 pars in the afternoon round. She tied with Lydia Sitorus from Rogers State, and the pair was one shot off the lead of 141 by UT Tyler's Arnie Taguines.
No. 4 DBU won the team title, while No. 13 West Texas A&M was second at +23 and the Rattlers and #18 Hillcats tied for third at +25.
Dupre tied for the tournament lead in both par-4 (4.00) and par-5 (4.67) scoring, while sophomore
Taylor Wilczek (Anthem, Ariz.) tied for the lead in par-3 (2.88) scoring. Wilczek also tied for the lead with eight birdies.
Senior
Libby Kilbride (Sheffield, England) and Wilczek tied for 21st place after turning in scores of 150. Kilbride shot identical rounds of 75, while Wilczek shot even par, 71, in the first round and a 79 in the afternoon.
Senior
Orla O'Leary (Galashiels, Scotland) carded identical rounds of 77 to finish in a tie for 44th place, while freshman
Gladys Taboada (Puebla, Mexico) was one shot behind her in a tie for 47th with her two-round total of 155 (79-76).
StMU hosts the annual Rattler Invitational at The Dominion Country Club next week. The tournament is slated to be 54 holes and will have 15 other teams competing alongside the Rattlers.
