EDMOND, Okla. — The No. 17 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team led wire-to-wire at the 2025 Skip Wagnon Invitational, finishing the tournament 34-under-par to win by four strokes over host, Central Oklahoma, and shatter a school record along the way.
All three rounds make the list for the lowest rounds in St. Mary's history. The second round 264 establishes a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 268 by both the 2004 and 2019 teams, while the 269 from the first round is fourth and the 273 from Tuesday is tied for fifth with the 2017 team and last year's squad at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational. The 806 three-round total also destroys the previous school record of 833 from the 2004 St. Edward's Invitational.
The Rattlers also had the top two individual finishers, as senior
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) won the second tournament of his career and the first this season, turning in a three-round total of 197 (68-63-66/-13) on the par-70 Kicking Bird Golf Club. It is the fourth time in his career he's shot par or better in all three rounds of a tournament, with the three others coming last season.
Sophomore
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) was two strokes behind Kaikaew in second place, firing a 54-hole total of 199 (67-63-69/-11). It is the second time in his career he's been under par in all three rounds, joining his tournament win from 2025 at the Battle at Riverhill (April 7-8). It also marks the third time Paquette has placed in the top five in 10 tournaments with the Rattlers. Paquette also paced the field with 18 birdies, while Kaikaew was second with 16.
Senior
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) finished inside the top-10 for the ninth time in his career, placing ninth with his total of 205 (66-68-71/-5). Junior Philip Hallström was right behind Touchard, tied for 11th place with a 207 (68-71-68/-3). Hallström led the 96-player field in par-3 scoring, shooting -4, while Kaikaew led with an -8 on par-5 scoring.
Sophomores
Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) and
Zach Seader (Bulverde, Texas) both fired rounds of 70 on Tuesday. Galvan finished tied for 31st place (73-70-70/+3), while Seader, who competed as an individual, ended in a tie for 58th place (75-73-70/+8). Galvan ended the tournament with 39 pars, tied for the second-most in the field.
The men's golf team returns to action on Oct. 20-21 at the GolfWeek Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational, in which the individual winner receives an at-large berth into the PGA Tour's Butterfield Bermuda Championship, an unprecedented offering in Division II golf. The Bermuda Championship is scheduled for Nov. 13-16 at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda.
