PUEBLO, Colo. — A tight grouping on day two helped the St. Mary's University Women's Golf team jump five spots to finish fifth at the NCAA Division II Regional Preview Invite at the Pueblo Country Club on Tuesday.
The Rattlers shaved nine strokes off Monday's score, totaling 304 strokes on Tuesday to finish with a 617 (313-304/+49). DBU won the event at +16, while Cal State LA (+42), host Colorado State-Pueblo (+44) and Cal State San Marcos (+47) rounded out the top five. The 304 was the third-lowest team round of the day and tied for the fifth-lowest in the tournament, consisting of teams from the West Region.
Junior
Taylor Wilczek (Surprise, Ariz.) led the Rattlers with a 75 in the second round, jumping 25 spots into a tie for 30th place (80-75=155/+13) on the par-71 course.
Both sophomores
Brielle Burns (Houston) and
Sophia Perkins (Sydney, Australia) carded rounds of 76 on Tuesday. Burns finished in 12th place (75-76=151/+9), while Perkins finished in 38th position with her two-day total of 156 (80-76=156/+14).
Burns also led the field, hitting 27 pars in the 36 holes.
Sophomore
Sabree Lefebvre (Riverview, Fla.) was one stroke behind her classmates and ended the tournament tied with Wilczek after totaling 155 (78-77=155/+13). Freshman
Manon Verret (Toulouse, France) dropped slightly from a tie for 55th to 63rd overall after turning in an 80 on Tuesday (80-80=160/+18).
Lefebvre recorded six birdies over the 36 holes, tied for the fifth-most in the field, and only two off the leaders.
The course yielded only two rounds under par in the 217 rounds completed, including a one-under 70 by individual champion Madison Ude from DBU. She ended the tournament even (72-70=142/E) to defeat Avery Foster of Cal State San Marcos by two strokes.
The Rattlers close out the 2025 fall campaign on Oct. 20-21 at the Midwestern State Fall Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
