Lauryn Ramos blasted a triple over the right fielder's head to complete the 10-9 comeback win against Regis and give the Rattlers a pair of wins on Saturday at the DII First Pitch Invitational. StMU won the first game of the day 3-2 over Central Washington.
Â
Ramos, from Marion, Texas, had been hitless in the game up to that point, drawing three walks in her previous four plate appearances, but barreled up the bat on the ball, scoring high school teammate
Emily Ayala (San Antonio) from second base. Senior
Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas) set up the winning run, tying the game one batter before Ramos on a sacrifice fly to right field, plating sophomore
Raegan Tennill (Corpus Christi, Texas), who started the inning with a walk.
Â
Senior
Sara Robertson (Lorena, Texas) gets the win in the game, coming in to work the top of the seventh. Junior
Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.) started in the circle, working 5 1/3 innings in a no decision.
Â
Against Central Washington, the Rattlers scored one in the third and two in the fifth after the Wildcats plated two in the fourth.
Â
Tennill drove in two of the three runs as five of the team's 10 hits went for extra bases.Â
Â
In her first start in the Gold and Blue, sophomore transfer
Breanna Ford (Corpus Christi, Texas) pitched four innings in the win. She allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Both
Jadyn Abrego (San Antonio) and
Savannah Youngblood (Kingwood, Texas) worked in relief.
