Opening Tip
• The lone home game for the St. Mary's STUNT team will pit the #8 Rattlers against No. 9 Texas Woman's in the Rattlers first-ever Lone Star Conference contest. The Pioneers are already 1-1 in league action, falling to DBU before beating UT Tyler last week at the Patriots Classic.
• St. Mary's opened the 2024 season against three nationally-ranked clubs at the DBU Patriots Classic in Dallas last week. The Rattlers surrendered only one point in a 19-1 victory over Southern Nazarene before dropping back-to-back games on Friday against #2 teams in Oklahoma Baptist (24-0) and Oklahoma State (23-1). StMU bounced back for a 13-9 win over No. 10 Drury to close out the tournament.
• Isabel Soto earned the first-ever Lone Star Conference Stunter of the Week Award. She was named the player of the game against Southern Nazarene after collecting 37 points. The backspot also finished second in points in the Rattlers' come-from-behind win against Drury (13-9). The sophomore competed in every single partner stunt performed in all 32 routines over the four games, racking up 58 points for the weekend.
• A year ago, the Rattlers swept the Texas Woman's Pioneers, winning 18-6 at the Oklahoma City Tournament and 12-7 in the inaugural St. Mary's Tournament.
• The trio of All-Americans back from 2023 were all named Players to Watch by the Lone Star Conference in 2024. Sophomore Yanelle Nicholson (First-Team), Sanaa Johnson (Second-Team) and Alecka Brown (Honorable Mention) were all honored a season ago during the team's initial season of competition.
• A total of 23 STUNT student-athletes were named to the inaugural Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll after the conclusion of the fall semester. Both Sanaa Johnson and Courtney McClellan posted perfect 4.00 GPAs during the semester.
• The Rattlers join DBU, Texas Woman's and UT Tyler from the DII ranks in Texas to offer the sport and compete in the Lone Star Conference. Both St. Edward's and Texas A&M Kingsville are confirmed for 2025 to start programs.
