STUNT Picks Up First Win of Season in Dominant Fashion

DALLAS — The St. Mary's University STUNT team pitched a shutout until the first routine of the fourth quarter and won its 2024 opening game 19-1 over Southern Nazarene at the DBU Patriots Classic on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Rattlers (1-0) won three of four routines in each of the first two quarters (Partner Stunts and Pyramids & Tosses), with no points awarded in the other two to take a 6-0 lead into halftime. The third quarter (Jumps & Tumbling) went the same way, with StMU winning the first, third and fourth routines for a 9-0 edge.
 
The Storm broke onto the scoreboard by winning the second point of the opening routine of the fourth quarter (Team Routine), but the Rattlers won eight of the final nine points in the game for the 19-1 final.
 
The Rattlers remain at the DBU Patriots Classic for the next two days with a slightly revised schedule. StMU will face #2 Oklahoma Baptist at 2 p.m., then return to the mats to take on No. 2 in Club, Oklahoma State, at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The team closes out the tournament on Saturday with #10 Drury at 5:15 p.m.
