Opening Tip
•   Year two for the St. Mary's STUNT team begins on Thursday at the annual DBU Tournament in the Burg Center. The Rattlers kick off 2024 against Southern Nazarene, which won the Connors State College Tournament. The Rattlers then take on #2 Oklahoma Baptist, #2 in club Oklahoma State and #10 Drury.
•   The Rattlers are ranked No. 7 in the Division II Preseason polls. The team finished seventh at the STUNT Nationals a season ago and carried the ranking into the 2024 preseason.
•   The trio of All-Americans back from 2023 were all named Players to Watch by the Lone Star Conference in 2024. Sophomore Yanelle Nicholson (First-Team), Sanaa Johnson (Second-Team) and Alecka Brown (Honorable Mention) were all honored a season ago during the team's initial season of competition.
•   A total of 23 STUNT student-athletes were named to the inaugural Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll after the conclusion of the fall semester. Both Sanaa Johnson and Courtney McClellan posted perfect 4.00 GPAs during the semester.
•   NCAA Division II recently classified STUNT as an emerging sport for women. An emerging sport is a women's sport recognized by the NCAA that is intended to help schools provide more athletics opportunities for women and more sport-sponsorship options for the institutions, and also help that sport achieve NCAA championship status.
•   The Lone Star Conference becomes only the second league to offer a conference championship in STUNT. The inaugural championship will be March 23 at the site of the regular season champion.
•   St. Mary's wrapped up its first year of competition with a 5-6 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Southwest Conference play. The Rattlers won their last four regular season games, including sweeping their inaugural St. Mary's Tournament with wins over Texas Woman's (12-7) and UT Tyler (15-2).
•   The Rattlers join DBU, Texas Woman's and UT Tyler from the DII ranks in Texas to offer the sport and compete in the Lone Star Conference. Both St. Edward's and Texas A&M Kingsville are confirmed for 2025 to start programs.Â
