RICHARDSON, Texas -- Taking the most of the opportunities given to her, St. Mary's Softball freshman
Emily Ayala had a huge week in helping the Rattlers sweep UT Permian Basin and was rewarded for that on Tuesday by being named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week.
Ayala went 7-for-10 with three home runs – two grand slams – and 11 RBIs. Ayala also scored five runs over the three games. In Game 3, she tied a single-game school record with seven runs driven in. Ayala also pitched two innings that game, allowing only one run.
She jumped to third on the club in LSC only games in RBIs for the Rattlers and now has 15 in 13 games and two starts.
