Opening Tip

•    St. Mary's heads to Oklahoma City to take part in the Oklahoma City Tournament. Due to flooding in the facilities at OCU, the tournament will take place at Moore Brink Junior High School. Video streaming will be available for $4.99 per day.

•    The Rattlers went 1-3 in their first tournament, ending on a high note with a 17-4 victory over Southwest Conference foe UT Tyler on Saturday.

•    StMU will rematch against Texas Woman's on Saturday morning. In an exhibition earlier this season, the Rattlers won a close 13-12 battle.

•    NCAA Division II recently classified STUNT as an emerging sport for women. An emerging sport is a women's sport recognized by the NCAA that is intended to help schools provide more athletics opportunities for women and more sport-sponsorship options for the institutions, and also help that sport achieve NCAA championship status.

•    The Rattlers scored seven-straight points in the first and second quarters in the last game against UT Tyler, winning every routine of the first quarter, tying the first routine of quarter two and winning the next two for the 7-1 lead. The team went on to win 17-4.

•    St. Mary's is one of seven new STUNT programs in NCAA for 2023, bringing the total to 24 NCAA Varsity programs with 16 at the club levels.

•    The Rattlers join DBU, Texas Woman's and UT Tyler from the DII ranks in Texas to offer the sport. All three schools compete in the Southwest Conference, along with Oklahoma Baptist.

•    StMU has eight student-athletes from San Antonio or neighboring towns and 18 of the 19 student-athletes hail from the state of Texas. Riley Smith is the lone exception, joining StMU from  Canyon Lake, Calif.

•    The Rattlers are currently third in the Southwest standings at 1-2.
