STUNT Ends First Regular Season on a High Note

SAN ANTONIO – The first regular season for St. Mary's STUNT ended on an extremely high note as they swept the inaugural St. Mary's Tournament.
 
The Rattlers (5-4, 4-2 Southwest) defeated Texas Woman's 12-7 and UT Tyler 15-2 to complete the season sweep over both teams. TWU also beat UTT 17-8 in the other game of the tournament.
 
StMU remained tough in the first quarter, winning all six points awarded during the partner tosses period, scoring two points against the Pioneers and all four against the Patriots.
 
The Rattlers now await word to find if they've advanced to the STUNT Nationals in their first year of competition. The Championships will take place April 27-29 at UT Dallas.
 
GAME ONE RECAP
The Rattlers scored all five points given in the first half, scoring two in the first quarter and three in the second quarter during pyramids and tosses.
 
The Pioneers pulled within three after winning three of the four points in the jumps & tumbling quarter, but the Rattlers scored four of the final five points in the group routines period for the 12-7 victory. 
 
GAME TWO RECAP
St. Mary's won all four points in the first quarter, including winning only their second point all season during routine seven for the 4-0 edge.
 
The Rattlers extended their lead in the second quarter, winning two of the three points. The Gold & Blue also won all three points in the third quarter to build a 9-1 advantage.
 
During the group routines of the final stanza, St. Mary's was awarded six of seven points for the lopsided 15-2 final tally.
