RICHARDSON, Texas -- For the second time in her St. Mary's career, senior pitcher
Catalina Cavazos has earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Lone Star Conference.Â
Cavazos, a Houston native, threw a no hitter in a 2-0 win over No. 8 Central Oklahoma on Sunday after defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 3-0 in the opener and Arkansas Tech 5-1 on Saturday. The senior surrendered only one earned run in 21 innings of work, striking out 18. She became the 13th different player in school history to throw a no hitter and it is the 30th solo no hitter in the storied program. For the week, Cavazos went 3-0 with a .33 ERA.
Cavazos also earned the honor once during the 2022 season, as well as all-conference and all-region honors at the conclusion of the campaign.
She and the rest of the Rattlers open the home portion of the season in the South Central Regional Crossover on Thursday, hosting MSU Denver for a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
