First Pitch
•   St. Mary's remains at home in the midst of a nine-game home stretch, hosting Texas Lutheran on Wednesday and beginning Lone Star Conference play with Eastern New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.
•   The Rattlers open the week against former Heart of Texas Conference foe, Texas Lutheran. The two teams were part of the same league in softball from 1988-1999. StMU holds a commanding 42-12 lead in the all-time series and has won the last seven meetings.
•   St. Mary's begins Lone Star Conference play on Friday hosting Eastern New Mexico for the third-straight season. The Rattlers are 16-4 all-time against the Greyhounds with a perfect 14-0 mark at home.
•   After pitching only 2.0 innings as a true freshman, sophomore Madeline Bloom has two wins and two saves through the first two weeks of the 2023 season. Bloom has a 0.00 ERA through 13.1 innings pitched, allowing just three hits during that span. Opponents are hitting just .071 against her with six strikeouts.
•   The Rattlers are ranked #19 in the nation after the 8-1 start to the year. It is the best ranking since the team was 19th in week 12 of the 2017 season. Last year, the team reached as high as 23rd in the NFCA poll.
•   Sophomore catcher Jamison Holder recorded a stellar week at the plate in the South Central Regional Crossover, tallying 8 RBI with a .600 batting average and 1.400 slugging percentage. She hit two doubles and two home runs - including a grand-slam - scored four times, added two walks and a sacrifice fly in four games.
•   Senior pitcher Catalina Cavazos was named the NFCA National Pitcher of the Week the first week of the season after starting 3-0 with a 0.33 ERA and a no-hitter against preseason #8 Central Oklahoma. She is the seventh Rattler to earn National Player of the Week Honors.
•   StMU is already 1/2 of the way to last season's triple total of six as they have three in the first nine games. Mackenzie Dugi, Reba Reyes and Lauryn Ramos each have one three-bagger. The three triples are tied for the most in the Lone Star Conference this season.
•   The Lone Star Conference schedule has shifted to three-game series for the 2023 season, creating a 42-game league slate. Conference play opens on Feb. 17 for the Rattlers when they host Eastern New Mexico.
