Men's Tennis Faces Three Foes at Pueblo Duals

NET POINTS

•    St. Mary's heads to Colorado for the Pueblo Duals, facing Colorado Mesa and Colorado College on Friday at the Pueblo City Park and MSU Denver on Saturday at Noon on the Roadrunners campus.

•    The Rattlers are 3-0 all-time against Colorado Mesa, last meeting in 2017, a 5-1 win for StMU. This will be the first-ever meeting against Colorado College and the team is 2-1 against MSU Denver with a close 5-4 loss in 2018 when the teams last met.

•    Junior Ryan Koth has an unblemished record for the fall after going 5-0 at the St. Mary's Invitational. Koth went 3-0 in singles to win his flight and he and junior Jake Faryniarz reached the finals with a 2-0 mark before action was halted due to Mother Nature.

•    Sophomore Alvaro Soler also was undefeated in singles play, winning all three matches in straight sets. Soler won flight four.

•    The Rattlers return 11 players who saw action a season ago and welcome freshman Bernhard Hauer from Vienna, Austria to the squad in addition to two redshirt freshmen.

•    The 17 victories by the Rattlers in 2021-22 were the second-most in StMU history, trailing only the 18 wins by the 2016-17 club.

•    The Rattlers lost in the semifinals of the Lone Star Tournament, but Oskar Irdoja was named to the All-Tournament team.

•    A season ago six Rattlers were honored on the Lone Star All-Conference teams the league announced. Nicolas Llosa was named to the All-Academic team and honorable mention in both singles and doubles. Chad Nguyen was named to the Sportsmanship team. Oskar Irdoja was named to the Second-Team in singles and Niklas Knoerr was an honorable mention in singles and doubles. Doubles partners Jake Faryniarz and Pablo Munoz Baroja earned honorable mention, while Baroja was also on the singles list.
