Final Individual Rankings Announced by ITA

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Tennis teams had several student-athletes ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Central Region and National Final rankings.
 
The lone Men's player to achieve a final ranking was Lucas Castillo Sanchez, who wrapped up his sophomore season ranked 15th in the South Central region. The second-year student-athlete from Wesley Chapel, Fla., finished 14-5 during the spring, leading the team in victories. He was 8-5 at number one and 6-0 at number two.
 
For the Women's team, four Rattlers appeared in the final singles or doubles rankings. Senior Alessia Terlizzi (Andria, Italy) was fourth in the region and 48th nationally, while she and senior Gia Posito (Houston) were ranked sixth in the region and 34th in Division II. Terlizzi was 15-5 in singles, all at line one and was 7-3 in Lone Star Conference action. In doubles, Posito and Terlizzi were 9-4 during the spring with a 5-2 mark in league play. The duo also finished second at the ITA Regional to conclude the fall season.
 
Junior Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) was 19-3 during the spring campaign and 8-1 in conference play to earn a regional ranking of No. 6 and end the year ranked 57th in the nation. She and doubles partner Janel Ospanova (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) were 3-0 during the spring, earning a regional ranking of No. 9, while Ospanova locked down the No. 17 ranking in the regional poll, finishing 6-3 after missing a portion of the spring due to injury.
