Catalina Cavazos shut out the Hilltoppers in a 1-0 victory, striking out six to earn the school's first Lone Star Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week honors in 2022.
The Houston native allowed only four singles, retiring 13 straight from the 2nd until the sixth when a hitter reached via error. SEU hit just .160 against Cavazos as she improved to 6-0 on the year and helped the Rattlers improve to 15-3 on the year.
This is the first weekly honor for Cavazos. She and the Rattlers begin Lone Star Conference play on Friday, hosting Texas A&M International. The Rattlers will also be hosting a reunion celebration in honor of the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship team.
