• St. Mary's has currently won seven straight games and is 8-2 on the season. The team plays six more games -- all road contests -- this week before the home opener on Feb. 25 against rival St. Edward's.
• Both seniors Amber Gonzales and Jayme Johns have reached base safely in each of the last eight games.
• After leading the nation in double plays a season ago, the Rattlers have continued to play great defense, turning four DP this season to rank 10th nationally and tops in the Lone Star Conference.
• The Rattlers have done a great job so far of getting the early lead, outscoring the opponents 23-3 through the first two innings.
• The Rattlers play their first 16 games of the season away from the friendly confines of The Park at StMU.
• Both RF Abigale Carney and 1B Amber Gonzales have chosen to return in 2022 for their "Covid Year."
• Head Coach Donna Fields is closing in on a major milestone. She is now 18 wins shy of 1,000 for her career. There are 14 other Division II coaches and 41 in the entirity of NCAA who have reached the milestone
• The Rattlers have played eight true freshmen. Only Lauren Ramos has played in all 10 games.
• During the NFCA Annual Convention over the summer, head coach Donna Fields was inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame.
• Freshman Savannah Youngblood ranks second in the Lone Star Conference and 17th nationally in walks allowed per seven innings with 0.45. She trails only the National Player of the Week in TAMUK's Carissa De Los Santos.
• Senior CF Bari Christian stole the 39th base of her career in Portland. She is 39-for-42 and has been successful in her last 20 attempts.
