SAN ANTONIO – After one of the most successful seasons in school history, it's no surprise the honors continue to roll in for the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team. On Tuesday, five Rattlers were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Central Region teams.
Â
Seniors
Ariel Cardozo (Ciudad de Este, Paraguay),
Deni Cresto (Curitiba, Parana, Brazil) and
Lewis Wilson (Aberdeen, Scotland) were all named to the First Team, while junior
Andre Schlaefli (Katy, Texas) and sophomore
Andrick Ferrer (Buffalo, N.Y.) were tabbed on nthe Second Team.
Â
The five selections are the most for a Rattlers team, bettering the four picks on the 2019 squad. It is the second honor for Wilson, as he earned Third-Team honors during that 2019 run.Â
Â
"This is a great representation of the team's success this year," said Head Coach
Johnny Clifford. "But those awards also represent what each of the sacrifices these men made in order to be great. They were leaders and difference makers in a great season for us."
Â
Cresto, a senior midfielder led the Lone Star Conference with eight assists, which ranks amongst the nation's leaders. He was named to the Lone Star All-Conference First Team for the second time in his career earlier this season after earning LSC Scholar-Athlete of the Year last spring.
