SAN ANTONIO — No need to put away your soccer scarves after the World Cup, as the St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team has 11 opportunities for fans to get their soccer fix in 2026, featuring nine regular-season home matches and two exhibition contests in San Antonio, and the Rattlers have players from seven of the 48 teams that competed for the FIFA World Cup title.
The Rattlers have student-athletes from the United States, Mexico, Portugal, England, Scotland, Spain, and Switzerland on the roster for the 2026 season.
The season gets underway on August 16, when the Rattlers host San Antonio Corinthians FC for an exhibition at 7 p.m. The other exhibition will be across town at Trinity on August 21 at 7 p.m.
The Rattlers open the regular season at home, hosting a pair of RMAC schools in doubleheaders with the Women's team. On Thursday, August 27, StMU faces Colorado State Pueblo at 6 p.m. It is the fourth time in the last five years that the two squads have played an early-season non-conference matchup. Two nights later, the Rattlers host UCCS, playing for the sixth time in Head Coach Johnny Clifford's career (1-1-3).
Lone Star Conference play begins on Sept. 23, when the Rattlers host Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m., with the annual Battle of the Saints taking place on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., in a doubleheader with the Volleyball team as part of Family Weekend.
St. Mary's and St. Edward's compete in an annual bragging rights competition, with each team being awarded one point during the regular season. If the teams play more than once, the winner of the series receives the point. The Rattlers have won the annual competition each of the last three years, including 5.5-2.5 victories in 2024-25 and 2025-26. St. Edward's last won the title in 2020-21, 3.5-2.5, and the two teams each scored three points in 2022-23.
Senior Night will take place on Oct. 24 against West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. in the second doubleheader of the year with Volleyball.
Single game tickets are now on sale and are $12 for general admission, $3 for youth aged 8-12 and children 7-and-younger are free, as are all St. Mary's students with a student ID.
