Opening Tip
•   St. Mary's remains at home, hosting Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday and Dallas Christian on Saturday. The five straight games to open the season at home are the most in school history. The 1983-84 team played its first four games of the year before a road game.
•   Senior Natalia Ryng currently ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference with 8.0 rebounds per game. Ryng tied her career-high with 10 in the opening win over Regis.
•   Senior Briley Phillips sank two three-pointers in the opening weekend to bring her career total to 106, needing 16 more to appear on the St. Mary's career charts. Jackie Woods (2011-14) currently sits in 10th with 122 makes.
•   Surprisingly, this will be just the third meeting between San Antonio schools Our Lady of the Lake and St. Mary's - and the first since 2009. The Rattlers hold a 2-0 lead in the series. Saturday will mark the first-ever game between StMU and Dallas Christian.
•   Head Coach Valerie Huizar became the seventh WBB coach in school history to win the first game of her career with the 77-74 victory against Regis on Friday night. Huizar is the ninth coach in Rattler history.
•   Senior Tonia Bilic led the team in scoring in each of the first two contests, including a career-high 18 in the win over Regis.Â
•   Junior Teanna Huggins is one of only two players in the Lone Star Conference to rank in the top 10 in both blocks and steals per game. Huggins is tied for seventh with 2.5 steals and tied for ninth with 1.0 blocks. The other is Marija Bakic from Texas A&M International.
•   St. Mary's returns seven letterwinners and two starters from last season's team and welcomes six newcomers to the fold. Senior Briley Perkins started in 19 of the 28 games, while sophomore Faith Phillips started in 23 as a true freshman. Four other returners had at least two starts in 2021-22.
•   As a freshman, Faith Phillips recorded multiple rebounds in all 28 games, including six games of 10 or more and grabbed two or more in the first two games of 2022-23.Â
•   In the first D2SIDA South Central Region poll, the Rattlers are receiving votes. St. Mary's is 1-1 on the young season.
