Men's Tennis outlasts West Alabama

MIDLOTHIAN, Texas — St. Mary's Men's Tennis held on tight to overcome the West Alabama Tigers, 5-4, on Friday. Here is a breakdown of their victory:
 
In Doubles:
1. Linus Holthey/Julius Kaverinen (UWA) def. Jeremiah Gonzalez/Bojan Popovic (STMU) 8-4
2. Jose Antelo/Brendan Brown (STMU) def. Andrii Stratiienko/Henrik Sinkko (UWA) 8-3
3. James Weatherhead/Saisaurav Konakanchi (STMU) def. Nicolai Jochamowitz/Anton Lof (UWA) 9-7
 
No. 2 Antelo and Brown took care of business with a solid 8-3 win. No. 3 Weatherhead and Konakanchi had a nail-biting victory, giving the Rattlers a 2-1 advantage leading into singles. 

In singles:
1. Jeremiah Gonzalez (STMU) def. Honorio Fernandez (UWA) 6-0, 6-0
2. Julius Kaverinen (UWA) def. Bojan Popovic (STMU) 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9)
3. Jose Antelo (STMU) def. Linus Holthey (UWA) 6-1, 6-1
4. Erik Nordblom (UWA) def. Felix Hollaway (STMU) 6-4, 6-2
5. Alex Gee (STMU) def. Andrii Stratiienko (UWA) 7-6, 6-1
6. Anton Lof (UWA) def. James Weatherhead (STMU) 6-4, 0-6, 6-2
 
Gonzalez wasn't holding back, leading the way for the Rattlers in singles with Antelo and Gee coming close behind him to clinch the match 5-4 for the Rattlers.
