SAN ANTONIO – Five St. Mary's University Men's Tennis players posted perfect 3-0 records in singles play and the Rattlers won Flight C in doubles at the Brother Al Invitational over the weekend, which was rescheduled due to inclement weather in September.
 
Senior Leonardo Fabbri (Faenza, Italy) won Flight 4 with a 3-0 mark, winning his first two matches in tiebreaker fashion and getting a late break of serve to save going to a third set in his final match. Sophomore Victor Velter (Perpignan, France) won all three matches in straight sets in Flight 5, while junior Florian Smalto (Paris, France) also needed a pair of tiebreakers en route to the Flight 6 title. Freshman Prateek Singla (Kyle, Texas) dropped only 13 games over his three matches in winning Flight 7 and sophomore Diego Alvarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) switched flights after two matches in order to avoid playing a teammate, winning two of his three in straight sets and going to 11-9 in the tiebreaker win over Western New Mexico.
 
In doubles action, Fabbri and Singla paired up to win the C Flight, while the pairs of Nikita Gavrilonoks (Riga, Latvia) and Velter and Alvarez and sophomore Ollie Eriksson (Austin, Texas) each went 2-1 in their respective flights.
 
The Rattlers now turn their attention to the ITA South Central Regional, which begins Thursday in Tyler, Texas at the Summers Tennis Center.
