Men's Tennis serves up thrilling results in fall opener

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Tennis made its first appearance of the season over the weekend at the Texas Lutheran Invitational.

Jeremiah Gonzalez came out strong in singles, dominating his flight by winning two matches 6-2, 6-2 and the other 6-2, 6-0.

Bojan Popovic found great success in his flight, winning both matches 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0.

Jose Antelo won two matches, the first 6-4, 6-3 and later a close 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Felix Hollaway found his stride and won all the matches in his flight, winning the first 6-3, 6-1, prevailing in the second 6-2, 6-1, and winning the third 6-3, 6-4.

Roberto Rodriguez played a nail-biter, prevailing 3-6, 7-6 (6), 10-8.

Brendan Brown and Saisaurav Konakanchi took on their flight winning two matches each. Brown won both of his 7-5, 6-2. In his first matches as a Rattler, Konakanchi came out on top of the first 7-6 (10), 7-5, and had a three-set grind in the second prevailing 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.

The Rattlers came out strong in doubles with duo Jeremiah Gonzalez and Bojan Popovic handling their flight, winning the first and second 8-3 and the final 9-7.

Brendan Brown and Sai Konakanchi teamed up and won two close matches, taking the first 8-6 and the second 8-5.

Rodriguez and Holloway won two matches in their flight 8-3 and 8-4.
