Late rally propels Women’s Hoops to first win of season

LUBBOCK, Texas — Trailing by 10 with 6:18 left in the game, St. Mary's responded with an 18-4 run to defeat Texas-Permian Basin 50-46 in the opening game of the 2017 Arbor Hotels Classic.

Spearheaded by a double-double from Arysia Porter and timely three-point shooting from Sierra Dixon, the Rattlers picked up their first victory of the season.

Porter poured in a team-high 12 points, grabbing 10 boards in the process while a pair of triples from Dixon jumpstarted the Rattlers' late run as she finished with 10 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Senior Kealani Marquez racked up 11 points, seven boards and two assists in the win with Hannah Wilson scoring seven points and collecting five rebounds.

St. Mary's will take on Western New Mexico in its final game of the weekend tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
