Trinity Tigers overtake Men's Tennis, 6-3

SAN ANTONIO — After defeating fellow San Antonio rival Our Lady of the Lake in its last matchup, Rattler Men's Tennis was unable to do the same to Trinity, losing 6-3 Saturday at Rohrbach Stadium.

The Tigers, an NCAA Division III opponent, combined an impressive display in doubles and singles to earn the victory over the Snakes.

St. Mary's saw themselves down after he doubles of portion of play after Adam Dockery (So., Wichita Falls, Texas) and Joshua Mosseri (So., Montreal) fell in a close battle with TU's No. 1 team of Adam Krull and Clayton Neiss 9-7.

In contrast, Richard Foley (So.,Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland) and Aldo Maldonado (Fr., Sierra Tarahumara, Mexico) won by the same 9-7 score line at No. 3 over Charlie Curtis and Chas Meyer.

The rubber match was decided with the No. 2's facing off and seeing Matt Banner (Jr., Mason, Texas) and Brien Galon (Jr., San Antonio) losing 8-3 to Jordan Mayer and Alvaro Hobbs.

Trailing 2-1 going into singles, the Rattlers would try their best to stage a comeback but it would be to no avail.

Dockery lost at No. 1 to Krull 6-2, 6-0 and Luke Keller, who was inserted into the lineup for singles, also dropped a decision 6-1, 6-1 to Mayer at No. 3.

No. 2 Maldonado defeated Mayer 6-3, 6-4, but the score proved to hurt the Rattlers as well as Hobbs defeated Mosseri at No. 5 by the same score line.

Foley would win the only other match for St. Mary's at No. 6, defeating 7-6, 6-3 over Eliot Guin.

With the match out of reach, Alberto Rodriguez (So., San Francisco, Panama) lost to Kevin Lee 6-4, 6-3 to end the match.

The Snakes dropped to 5-6 on the year and will now look to a huge regional matchup with Midwestern State Thursday in Wichita Falls. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
