Softball moves up to No. 4 in nation

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Softball has moved all the way up to No. 4 in the nation in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, it was announced Wednesday.

The Rattlers are 10-1 on the season and have victories over three teams ranked in the top 25, including No. 1-ranked West Texas A&M, which is also 10-1 on the season.

St. Mary's entered the season ranked No. 16.

The Rattlers have done all of their damage on the road this year, as they won't make their home debut until this evening when they host cross-town Our Lady of the Lake. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Softball Stadium.

After going 4-1 at last week's Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Invitational, Rattlers Vianna Gutierrez Touchtone, Nicole Sardelich and Sydney Wellmann were named to the All-Tournament Team.
