WICHITA, Kan. — The Rattlers' red-hot bats didn't cool off Saturday, reeling off 18 hits — including two more home runs — in a 10-1 victory over Newman.

The triumph gave St. Mary's the 2-1 series win, giving the Rattlers 30 wins on the season with a 30-14 record (16-8 in Heartland Conference).

Nathan Humpal, who totaled seven RBI in the series, broke a scoreless deadlock with a two-RBI single up the middle in the third inning. Two innings later, Humpal launched a solo shot to left field, his second home run of the series, as part of a three-run inning that put St. Mary's up 8-1.

Matt McClain pitched a complete-game victory to improve to 7-3 on the season, striking out seven batters in nine innings while scattering five hits and yielding one run.

Humpal and Omar Garcia, who also homered, tied for the team high with three RBI apiece Saturday. Garcia went 4 for 5 and Humpal was 3 for 4, while Al Gonzalez was 3 for 5.

The series marked the Rattlers' final regular-season road series. They will return home Friday to host Oklahoma Christian in a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m. Friday at Dickson Stadium.
