No. 11 Rattler Softball splits with TAMIU on Senior Day

SAN ANTONIO — On the day she was being honored for her past four years as a Rattler, Emily Brittain tied for the second most wins in the program's history on Senior Day Thursday.
 
Brittain picked up her 24th win on the season in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader as the Rattlers bested Texas A&M International 3-1, going on fall in Game 2, 5-0.
 
Now at 24-4 on the season, Brittain has totaled 88 victories her past four seasons, tying for the No. 2 spot in the program's record for most career wins and is currently tied for eighth in the single-season wins record.
 
Brittain (Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) scattered three hits in the Game 1 victory in five innings of work while Maricela Bissaro (Sr., San Antonio) picked up her second save on the season, pitching two innings in relief.
 
The Rattlers pounded 11 hits in the win with Daniele Nash (Jr., San Antonio), Haley Richter (Jr., Hondo, Texas), Taylor Vidrine (Jr., San Antonio) and Reagan Patterson (Fr., Mineral Wells, Texas) all picking up two hits apiece.
 
The day flipped in Game 2 as the Rattlers struggled to produce hits while the Dustdevils (19-31, 10-11 in conference) found their pitch, recording 11 hits to the Rattlers' five in the shutout.
 
Also being honored for her past four years of work on Senior Day, starting Game 2 ace Bissaro fanned a season-high six batters in five innings.
 
Bissaro was charged with the loss to drop to 8-4 on the season.
 
The Rattlers are now at 43-9 overall and 18-2 in Heartland Conference play with the split.
 
St. Mary's plays its last regular-season series against rival St. Edward's in a three-game series starting next Friday in Austin, Texas.
