SAN ANTONIO — The saying "take one for the team" won it for Rattler Softball Wednesday night as St. Mary's pulled out a gusty win over Texas A&M International, winning with a walk-off, hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

The Rattlers won 2-1 over the Dustdevils in not your average victory Wednesday inside The Park at St. Mary's, improving to 42-8 on the season and 17-1 in Heartland Conference play.

No. 11 St. Mary's went into its last at-bat with a tie game at 1-1 with the Dustdevils (18-30, 9-10 in conference), drawing two back-to-back singles with zero outs.

A sac bunt moved LeeAnn Campos (So., Helotes, Texas) and Amanda Villa (Jr., San Antonio) to second and third followed by an intentionally walked Nicole Sardelich (Jr., Angleton, Texas) to load the bases with one out.

Taylor Vidrine (Jr., San Antonio) was more than capable of smashing a walk-off hit but instead the centerfielder didn't have to do much as she was beamed to walk in a run to end the game.

Villa and Reagan Patterson (Fr., Mineral Wells, Texas), who recorded her first collegiate start against the Dustdevils, both went 1.000 at the plate, making up five of the Rattlers' eight hits.

Villa went 3 for 3 with a double and Patterson went 2 for 2 with a sac bunt and an RBI-single that first put the Rattlers on the board in the fourth.

Emily Brittain (Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) also had an impressive stat line for the night, striking out a season-high seven batters and tossing the complete game to improve to 23-4 on the season.

The Rattlers complete the series with TAMIU on Senior Day with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Softball Stadium.
