SAN ANTONIO — It just keeps getting better for Rattler Softball.

Currently on a 15-game winning streak, St. Mary's Softball has moved up to its highest ranking this season, coming in as No. 5 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll, announced today.

Dominance may not even fully describe the Snakes' play this season, as they are off to the best start in program history, winning 29 of their last 30 games for a program-best overall season record start at 33-4.

Currently, the Rattlers lead the entire nation in wins, receiving 307 points to move up two spots in the poll to No. 5.

Remaining No. 1 in the poll is West Texas A&M (27-4) followed by California Baptist (30-7) and Armstrong (24-6).

The Rattlers' illustrious 2014 season is on track to become the 11th team in the program to chart a 40-plus-win season.

St. Mary's No. 5 ranking is backed by its stats, which currently boasts a team batting average of .322 and a team ERA of 1.60. The Rattlers are outscoring their opponents 192-71 this season.

The Rattlers look to add more W's in the win column this weekend as they begin a three-game series with Texas-Permian Basin starting with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday in Odessa, Texas.
