Rattlers sweep RSU, win 13th straight for second time this season

CLAREMORE, Okla. — The No. 7-ranked St. Mary's Rattlers never homered Saturday. They didn't have to.
 
A day after blasting four shots in a pair of victories over Rogers State, St. Mary's simply used timely hitting and stellar pitching to blank the Hillcats 3-0 for the series sweep.
 
Maricela Bissaro pitched the complete-game shutout for St. Mary's (31-4), striking out one and scattering five hits to improve to 5-0 on the season.
 
The performance stretched St. Mary's winning streak to 13, giving them streaks of 14 and 13 sandwiching a single loss.
 
Third-inning RBI singles from Taylor Vidrine and Vianna Gutierrez broke open a scoreless game, and Gutierrez added a second RBI single in the fifth to make it 3-0.
 
Gutierrez went 2 for 3 with two RBIs on the day, while Vidrine was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
St. Mary's outhit Rogers State (4-18) 6-5 on the day.
 
The Rattlers will be back in action on Tuesday, when they play Texas Woman's in a doubleheader in Denton, Texas. The action begins at 3 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
