SAN ANTONIO — You can definitely call that a comeback.
After losing four out of its last five games, St. Mary's Women's Basketball blazed back into victory Thursday night, torching Texas-Permian Basin in a 23-point rout, 70-47.
The 20-plus victory saw
Jackie Woods (Sr., San Antonio) light up for a game-high18 points while
Morgan Pullins (Jr., Franklin, Mich.) recorded another double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The explosion started in the second half after the Rattlers went into break up only one, 29-28.
The Rattlers jumped to 61 percent shooting in the second half from 33 percent in the first, charging on a 15-0 run the first nine minutes of the final frame.
The Falcons (6-15, 5-11 in conference) were kept to just 19 points in the second half while the Rattlers doubled it, scoring 41.
Each Rattler who saw time on the floor added to the St. Mary's point tally for the night in a game that saw 10 steals to a commendable eight turnovers.
The double-digit victory hopes to juice the Rattlers who are very much in the fight for the conference title as they hold the No. 3 spot after Thursday's win with a 15-7 overall record and 10-7 league record.
St. Mary's remains at home for a tough matchup against provisional Heartland Conference member and undefeated Lubbock Christian. The Rattlers tip off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bill Greehey Arena.
