AUSTIN, Texas — Although it recently dropped from its national rank, undefeated St. Edward's showed its prowess as it claimed "Battle of the Saints" Monday, taking St. Mary's Women's Soccer 5-0.

Although a Heartland Conference member, the game against the Hilltoppers will not count towards conference records for either team but will count towards overall records.

The Rattlers competed their best against the Hilltoppers, which have for the last few seasons been one of the top teams in the nation, but were unable to break their defense as the Rattlers were denied from taking any shots for the game.

Alyssa Taramona (So., Forney, Texas) had 18 shots targeted toward her with half shot on goal. Taramona recorded four saves in the loss, allowing five goals.

The Hilltoppers were able to connect for three goals in the first half and two goals in the second with three of their five goals being headed in.

St. Mary's dropped to 3-4-1 on the season while St. Edward's remained undefeated at 5-0-2.

The Rattlers will have to snap back to their winning ways as they face their first conference game on the season against Newman University at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's.
