Box Score SAN ANTONIO — For a while, there was no slowing down St. Mary's offense. The Rattler women's soccer team had scored 14 goals through the first three games, storming out to a 2-0-1 start.

Now, St. Mary's is yearning to get back into that kind of rhythm.

The Rattlers' offense was held at bay Sunday, as visiting Angelo State shut out St. Mary's 2-0 before 107 fans at Our Lady of the Lake Field.

Sierra Anderson put Angelo State (3-2-1) up 1-0 in the 35th minute, and the Rattlers (2-3-1) never could find an answer as they were shut out for the third straight game.

Against ASU, St. Mary's averted disaster when Jenny Kotowych had an open look that sailed high over the net, keeping the Rattlers within striking distance down by a goal.

But St. Mary's couldn't capitalize, and the Belles struck again to put the game away on a goal from Selena Alvarez with 24 minutes left.

Angelo State outshot St. Mary's 11-9 on the day. Rattlers goalkeeper Alyssa Taramona had four saves in the net.

St. Mary's will travel to Laredo for a non-conference matchup against Heartland Conference foe Texas A&M International on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
