LAREDO, Texas — The St. Mary's softball team completed its series sweep of Texas A&M International on Saturday. And they fittingly did it in another home-run fest.

Christina Rodriguez broke open a tied game with a two-run blast in the top of the seventh to fuel a 4-2 win over Texas A&M International.

Rodriguez's (Sr., San Antonio) homer, her eighth of the year, was the second on the day for St. Mary's, as Jared Gonzalez (Sr., San Antonio) launched a solo blast in the fourth. It was Gonzalez's ninth home run of the season for the Rattlers, who have hit 42 as a team. That total ties last year's team total for fifth-most in school history. The team record of 59 was set in 2005.

With Heartland Conference foe St. Edward's picking up its first conference loss this weekend, St. Mary's (31-12, 9-0) sits alone atop the conference as the league's only unbeaten.

Ace Emily Brittain pitched the complete game, striking out four to earn the victory. She improved to 18-4 on the season.

The Rattlers will be back in action Wednesday, when they travel to take on Abilene Christian for a doubleheader in Abilene, Texas.
