LAREDO, Texas — Well, that didn't take long.

St. Mary's softball was able to keep its undefeated trek through Heartland Conference play, winning both games of Friday's doubleheader against Texas A&M International. Game One ended quick as the Rattlers run-ruled the Dustdevils 11-1 after five innings and picked up Game Two with a 2-1 victory, winning it with two solo home runs.

Two Rattler home runs helped spur the run-rule in Game 1 with Jared Gonzalez (Sr., San Antonio) pelting a three-run blast in the second followed by Alex Rodriguez (So., Eagle Pass, Texas) hitting another 3-run homer in the fourth. Rodriguez finished the game with a team-high four RBIs.

Eleven hits filled St. Mary's stats with Nicole Sardelich (So., Angleton, Texas) going 3-for-4 at the plate including an RBI double. Taylor Vidrine (So., San Antonio) had the only other multiple-hit game with two hits. Vidrine tallied one RBI as well as two stolen bases.

Emily Brittain (Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) notched her 17th win on the season in Game 1 for her 12th complete game. Brittain scattered four hits with the Dustdevils' only run being unearned. The ace struck out four in the five-inning game.

Sardelich led off Game Two with a solo homer for her third home run on the season, giving St. Mary's another quick lead.

Maricela Bissaro (Jr., San Antonio) had the mound to start Game Two, tossing four innings with one strikeout and allowing three hits. Crystal Keller (Sr., LaCoste, Texas) stepped in for three innings of relief and became the decision maker after two Dustdevil doubles tied the game 1-1 in the fifth.

But a Vidrine solo slam tallied the final run for the game in the sixth, giving St. Mary's the sweep Friday. Vidrine picked up another stolen base to total three for the day while Sardelich recorded another double in her 19th on the season. Vidrine and Sardelich each totaled two hits in the Rattlers' six-hit victory.

With Vidrine's game-winning homer, Keller improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Rattlers improve to 30-12 and 8-0 in conference play with Friday's two wins to remain the top team in the league.

St. Mary's completes its three-game series with the Dustdevils (17-28, 4-4 in conference) at noon Saturday in Laredo, Texas.
