The Rattlers committed six errors in Saturday's loss to TAMIU.
Box Score

SAN ANTONIO — The Rattlers fell to the new No. 1 team in the league, Texas A&M International, dropping the series 2-1 on Saturday.

Errors provided to be the detriment for St. Mary's in Saturday's 9-5 loss as the Rattlers tallied six for the game.

A two-error inning in the seventh helped cater to five Aggie runs for the inning, creating a hole the Rattlers couldn't climb out of despite a three-run inning in the eighth.

The Aggies (16-6, 11-5 in conference) totaled 17 hits to the Rattlers' 11 with their bats rotating through a four-Rattler pitching lineup. Matt McClain (So., San Antonio) recorded the loss Saturday to fall to 3-2 on the season. As the starter, McClain tossed 3 1/3 innings for four strikeouts. Kyle Bumpas (Jr., El Paso, Texas) pitched three innings and Colter Bostick (Jr., Powell, Wyo.) and Rick Villa (RS-Jr., San Antonio) tossed one and 1 2/3 innings, respectively.

Brandon Bates (Sr., Boerne, Texas) led the Rattlers' (15-6, 13-5 in conference) bats for three hits, while Billy Richard (Sr., Schertz, Texas) and Weston Heiligman (RS-So., Castroville, Texas) had two hits apiece. Adrian Garcia (RS-Jr., El Paso, Texas) smacked his second triple on the season and Al Gonzalez (RS-Fr., Pasedena, Texas) hit his third double on the season Saturday.

The Rattlers hope to have short memory of their two losses against TAMIU over the series as they start an 11-game road trip next week.

St. Mary's will face Texas A&M-Kingsville Tuesday in Kingsville, Texas at 3 p.m.
