Richter shines as Softball splits with Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Haley Richter enjoyed a career day at the plate Friday.

Richter blasted a third-inning grand slam and drove in five runs on a 3-for-3 outing in an 8-0 run-rule victory at Trinity.

Emily Brittain (Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) threw a two-hit victory in the shortened five-inning game, striking out two to improve to 12-2 on the season.

Trinity (4-7) bounced back to steal Game 2 from the Rattlers (21-9), 4-3, as the Tigers scattered runs over the third and fourth innings to overcome an early 3-1 hole.

The next time St. Mary's takes the field will mark the start of Heartland Conference play, as the Rattlers will host Newman March 15-16 at the Northside ISD Softball Field.
