DURANT, Okla. — The St. Mary's softball team got off to a brilliant start at the Southeastern Regional Invitational, winning both games Friday to improve to 6-3 on the season.
The Rattlers opened with a 4-3 win over Henderson State before thumping Southern Nazarene 9-4 on the first day of the tournament, which is being hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Third baseman
Nicole Sardelich (So., Angleton, Texas) provided the big bat in both games, recording two hits with three runs scored against Southern Nazarene while going 3 for 4 with two RBIs against Henderson State. She totaled three doubles over the pair of games, increasing her team-leading season total to seven.
Maricela Bissaro (Jr., San Antonio) picked up her first win of the year in the victory over Henderson State, while
Emily Brittain (Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) improved to 3-1 by besting Southern Nazarene.
The tournament runs through Sunday.
Update: St. Mary's came back Saturday to beat Cameron 13-4 in five innings following a 6-5 loss to Arkansas-Monticello. Rainstorms resulted in the cancelation of Sunday's scheduled games.
