KINGSVILLE, Texas — St. Mary's Softball continued to roll Wednesday, picking up its sixth and seventh straight wins by sweeping a doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Vianna Gutierrez (So., San Antonio) drove in three more on a three-run blast in a 7-4 victory in Game 1.

With the wins, St. Mary's improved to 13-4 on the season.
The score looked closer in Game 1 than it really was for most of the game, as the Rattlers led 7-0 going into the seventh inning, when St. Mary's yielded four runs, all unearned.
St. Mary's led 13-0 entering the fifth-and-final inning of Game 2 before yielding a pair of runs.
Gutierrez, the Heartland's reigning Pitcher of the Week, threw her hat in the ring for Hitter of the Week honors for the upcoming week, homering once in both wins and totaling six RBIs on the day.

Emily Brittain (Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) continued to do what she is so good at — win — as she improved to 5-1 on the year with the Game 1 win. Gutierrez picked up the Game 2 win, striking out six to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Rattlers will put their win streak to test this weekend when they host the St. Mary's Round Robin, which also includes Tarleton State and Lubbock Christian. The games will get underway at 2 p.m. Friday at Northside ISD Field.
