ORLANDO, Fla. — For the first time in St. Mary's University history, a Men's Soccer player has been named the D2CIDA National Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Sophomore forward Eduardo Fernandez, a forward from San Antonio, was also named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week this week after scoring four goals and two assists for a total of 10 points in the two Rattler wins. Fernandez came off the bench to score a hat-trick in the team's 10-0 win over Sul Ross State with one assist in 59 minutes, and then scored the game-tying goal and assisted on the game-winner at No. 9 Rogers State on Saturday. Four of his six shots on the week were on goal and he played a total of 102 minutes.

This is the first-ever award for the Men's Soccer program, though the women's team had Elena Kossler win a season ago.
