SAN ANTONIO — Long-time St. Mary's University Women's Soccer associate head coach Mike Erwin has been named the head coach at Angelo State University.

Erwin has been on the sidelines for the Rattlers since 2019, helping build one of the most competitive programs in the Lone Star Conference. The team has qualified for the Lone Star Conference Tournament each of the last six years, advancing to a pair of NCAA South Central Regionals.

"Mike has been a big piece of our program for the past six years, and we will miss him," said Head Coach Kevin Driggs. "Mike is a fantastic coach and leader, and I have no doubt he will have a tremendous amount of success leading Angelo State. I am extremely happy for him and his family."

Erwin and Driggs have been friends much longer than the six years they spent at St. Mary's together, as the pair both were involved in club soccer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to the collegiate ranks. They shift from friends to rivals, as the teams square off at Sigma Beta Chi field on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Rattlers are 3-5 against the Rambelles since Driggs and Erwin came to St. Mary's.
