SAN ANTONIO — Put on your dancing shoes, the St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team received an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
The Rattlers, who are 21-9 on the season, earned the seven seed and will face Eastern New Mexico in the First Round at DBU on Saturday.
The Lone Star Conference received six of the eight berths in the South Central Region in No. 1 DBU, No. 2 Eastern New Mexico, No. 3 Lubbock Christian, No. 4 Western New Mexico, No. 5 St. Edward's, and No. 7 St. Mary's. The two RMAC schools selected are No. 6 Black Hills State and No. 8 Colorado Mesa.
This is the second time St. Mary's has been the seventh seed in the South Central Region, as they lost to Washburn, 81-70, in 2004 in Stephenville, Texas. It is the 11th time overall the Rattlers have advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and the second time under Head Coach
Bubba Meyer.
The semifinals will be played on Sunday, March 15, and the regional championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
