RICHARDSON, Texas — St. Mary's University Women's Tennis Player
Alessia Terlizzi was named the Lone Star Conference Singles Player of the Week on March 18, earning the award for the first time in her career.
Terlizzi, from Andria, Italy, went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, including a win over NCAA Division I Lamar. Terlizzi dropped just two games (6-0, 6-2) against Lamar. In the LSC opener against Cameron, Terlizzi rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 — avenging a 6-2, 5-7, 0-6 loss from a year ago. Terlizzi's play helped the Rattlers top CU 5-2 in the LSC opener for both teams. Over the two matches, she also went unbeaten at No. 1 doubles.
Terlizzi is now 7-2 this spring, and she and the Rattlers have this week off from competition, returning to the courts on Wednesday, March 25, at Sul Ross State. She joins
Gia Posito (Houston) and
Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) who were named the LSC Doubles Team of the Week a month ago.
