SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team was dominant at the rescheduled Brother Al Invitational over the weekend at the Rohrbach Tennis Stadium, as four Rattlers were a perfect 3-0 in singles play, while two others did not lose a match, and the doubles teams were a combined 6-0.
 
The annual Brother Al Invitational featured players from Our Lady of the Lake, UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico and was set up as a flighted round robin tournament.
 
Seniors Madalyn Smelley (Ocean Springs, Miss.) and Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) each went 3-0 in flights two and three, respectively, winning all three matches in straight sets with multiple breaks of serve, while sophomore Isabella Olsson (Sverige, Sweden) and Sarah Wooten (Beaumont, Texas) both were 3-0 in flights five and six, respectively. Wooten only lost four games the entire weekend, and blanked all three foes in the deciding set.
 
Wu and Smelley then teamed up to post a perfect 3-0 record in doubles play, doubling up two of the three opponents and shutting out the other. The other three doubles teams all posted a 1-0 mark.
 
The Rattlers compete next week at the ITA South Central Regional in Tyler. Competition begins on Thursday and goes through Sunday.
