FULLERTON, Calif. — The No. 10 St. Mary's University STUNT team may have lost both matches on Saturday at the Royal Rumble, but the team didn't walk away empty-handed, learning exactly what it takes to be the best.
The Rattlers (2-6) lost a hard-fought battle against No. 3 Concordia Irvine, 32-23, and then lost to NCAA Division I and top-ranked Cal Baptist, 25-1.
Each of the first three rounds against CUI was decided by two or fewer decisions, and 13 of the 24 rounds were scored with the new system. Only five routines were scored by a straight 1-0 scoring, with the Rattlers winning one.
St. Mary's returns to the state of Texas, hosting the inaugural Rattler Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 28-Sunday, March 1.
