THIS WEEK IN RATTLERS TENNIS

• The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team hopes to continue its hot streak to begin the spring season, hosting Collin College on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
•   The Rattlers swept three matches in two days to begin the 2026 campaign, defeating McMurry, Howard Payne and Schreiner all by 7-0 scores. Freshmen Ollie Eriksson and Nikita Gavrilonoks, sophomore Florian Smalto and senior Fabian Rosales played singles in all three matches, and all won all three in straight sets. Smalto lost only one game in the 37 he played, while Eriksson and Rosales dropped only three and Gavrilonoks four.
•   St. Mary's is 2-3 all-time against Collin CC, and has won the last two meetings. The last time the two teams squared off was Feb. 11, 2016, a 6-3 victory for the Rattlers.Â
•   Sophomore Lucas Castillo Sanchez is the first Rattler to reach 10 singles victories this season. He is 2-0 in duals at line one, and was 8-3 during the fall tournament season. Junior Louis Hein became the first to win 10 doubles matches with his and Fabian Rosales' win on court three against Schreiner. Hein has now won seven straight in doubles and is 10-2 on the year.
•   The Rattlers added a trio of student-athletes to the roster between semesters, welcoming Ollie Eriksson from Austin, Florian Smalto from Paris, France, and Victor Velter from Perpignan, France. Smalto is a sophomore transfer from Northwestern Ohio while the other two are freshmen.
•   At the conclusion of the first semester, St. Mary's had nine student-athletes named to the Lone Star Commissioner's Honor Roll, with Lincoln Baldonado, Bernhard Hauer, and Louis Hein all earning a perfect 4.00 GPA. Diego Alvarez, Aaron Ben Anton, Lucas Castillo Sanchez, Leonardo Fabbri, Nikita Gavrilonoks, and Evin Walsh all sported at least a 3.30 GPA for the fall semester.
•   Freshman Diego Alvarez and sophomore Lucas Castillo Sanchez were both named Athletes to Watch in the Lone Star Conference.
•   Junior Leonardo Fabbri was named to the CSC Academic All-District team a season ago, while senior Bernhard Hauer was voted to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team.
