LEXINGTON, Ky. — The fourth season for the St. Mary's University STUNT team started with a split as the Rattlers lost the opener 24-1 to perennial powerhouse Alma before winning 21-4 against Northern Kentucky.
Against the Norse, StMU scored a point in each of the first five rounds, hitting routine five in the first quarter, partner stunts, for the 5-0 lead. In the adjusted scoring for this season, the Rattlers earned two points for routine two in the second quarter, while NKU scored one.
After halftime, the Rattlers earned three of four points in the third quarter, shutting out the Norse for a 10-2 lead heading into the team routines.
StMU pushed seven points in the first two rounds, on routines four and one, and neither team scored on routine five. In the final event, the Rattlers outscored the Norse 4-1 on routine two for the 21-4 final.
The Rattlers close the Bluegrass Classic on Monday against No. 13 Purdue Northwest and Division I No. 4 Mercyhurst.
