SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University Director of Tennis Bill Macom announces the addition of three student-athletes to the Men's and Women's Tennis teams for the spring semester, and one for next season.

The men's team will add a pair of Frenchmen in Victor Velter from Perpignan and Florian Smalto from Paris, while Breeze Simon, a freshman transfer from Dallas, will join the women's team in January. Prateek Singla will join the men's team in the fall after completing high school.

"Victor and Florian both have a solid UTR in singles and doubles," Macom said. "We expect them to have an immediate impact in our lineup for the spring."

Simon spent her first semester at Saint Francis before returning to Texas for her second semester.

"Breeze is a unique player," Macom said. "She is ambidextrous and plays with both her left and right hands, so she rarely hits a backhand shot. I am excited for what she can add to our lineup."

Singla, a senior at Texas Connections Academy has an USTA ranking of #471 and will begin classes with the Rattlers for the fall semester.

"I've been fortunate enough to watch Prateek train at the John Newcombe Tennis Academy for the past several months," said Macom. "He'll bring really good energy to the program next fall and should find a place in the starting lineup."

The Rattlers will kick off the spring season on Jan. 24 with the Rattlers Pro/Am Doubles Tournament.
